Description : Progestin Composition : Each 100 ml contains: Altrenogest 0.22 g; Excipients q.s. to 100 ml Action 1- Induction of early ovulation during the estrus season 2- Treatment of lactational anestrus in the absence of the corpus luteum. 3- Suppression of estrus, either during prolonged cycles or in females with regular cycles. 4- Cycle control during the breeding season for efficient use of the stallion or semen. 5- Prevention of early embryonic loss. Indications : PROGESTAL is indicated for suppressing estrus in mares and sows to allow for a more predictable onset of estrus following the completion of treatment. It is used clinically to establish normal cycles during the transitional period in mares, which occurs between anestrus and the breeding season, often in conjunction with an artificial photoperiod. It is most effective for achieving pregnancy when administered during the final phase of the transition period. It is recommended to select mares with significant follicular activity (mares with one or more follicles measuring 20 to 30 millimeters) for treatment during the transition phase. Mares that have been in estrus for 10 days or more and have active ovaries are also considered excellent candidates for progestin treatment. PROGESTAL is effective in mares that are cycling normally to minimize the need for estrus detection, to synchronize estrus, and to facilitate the scheduling of breedings. PROGESTAL is also used to suppress estrus in show mares or racehorses. Although the drug is contraindicated in pregnant mares, its efficacy has been demonstrated in maintaining pregnancy in ovariectomized mares, and it may be beneficial in treating mares that abort as a result of subtherapeutic levels of normal progestins. Contraindications : Do not administer during pregnancy when progesterone levels are normal, or in cases of acute, subacute, or chronic uterine inflammation. Do not administer concurrently with rifampicin. Precautions : Wear gloves when handling the product; Avoid all skin contact. This product should not be handled by: women who suspect they are or are pregnant; Individuals with thrombophlebitis, cerebrovascular or coronary artery disease, breast cancer, estrogen-dependent neoplasms, vaginal bleeding, or liver dysfunction.
