Usage Indications

Procaine Penicillin 40,000,000 IU; Ready-to-use; Injectable suspension Formula:; Penicillin G procaine ....................................................... 40,000,000 IU; Formulation Agents q.s. .............................................. ...... 100.00 ml; Indications:; An antibacterial agent specially formulated to treat infections caused by pathogens sensitive to penicillin. Effective against Gram-positive and certain Gram-negative bacteria, including both aerobic and anaerobic species; Aerobic bacteria include beta-hemolytic streptococci, Streptococcus equi, and staphylococci that do not produce beta-lactamases. Anaerobic bacteria include all Clostridium species and Bacteroides species that do not produce beta-lactamases; Indicated for: Pneumonia, mumps (acute phase), arthritis, leptospirosis, metritis, skin and soft tissue infections, tetanus (with antitoxin and supportive therapy), actinobacillosis, paratyphoid abortion, septic arthritis, polyarthritis in foals caused by Streptococcus zooepidemicus, nephritis, pyelonephritis, and respiratory infections in general. Organisms susceptible to penicillin: Gram-positive: Actinomyces, Arcanobacterium (Corynebacterium) pyogenes, Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium renale, Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis, Dichelobacter (Fusobacterium) nodosus, Fusobacterium necrophorum, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp., Streptococcus equi, Streptococcus zooepidemicus. Gram-negative bacteria: Erysipelothrix rusopathiae, Haemophilus spp., Moraxella spp., Neisseria spp., Pasteurella spp. Spirochetes: Leptospira spp., Treponema hyodisenteriae. Target species: Sport horses; Directions for use: Gently shake the container before use; Administer intramuscularly only; Dosage: The total recommended dose is 20,000 IU of penicillin per kg, which is equivalent to administering 1 mL per 20 kg of body weight. Treatment should be repeated every 12 or 24 hours, or at the discretion of the treating veterinarian. The duration of treatment will be determined on a case-by-case basis and based on the pathogens’ sensitivity to the antibiotic
