Usage Indications

Sodium Hyaluronate Joint Repair – Chondroprotective MOLECULAR WEIGHT 1,800,000 Dalton Benefits: In the early stages of osteoarthritis, patients’ joints are characterized by a loss of proteoglycan molecules in the articular cartilage. These biochemical changes in the cartilage of affected joints are caused not only by a decrease in proteoglycans but also by a decrease in hyaluronic acid. Sodium hyaluronate (the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid) is a natural polymer belonging to the class of glycosaminoglycans (acidic mucopolysaccharides). It is, therefore, a fundamental component of synovial fluid, characterized by its viscoelasticity, hygroscopicity, and lubricating properties—qualities that protect the joints from the pressure and friction to which the articular surfaces are subjected during movement. The quality and characteristics of synovial fluid are directly related to the animal’s joint health. Indications: For the treatment of joint dysfunction due to non-infectious synovitis associated with osteoarthritis. For tendovaginitis, post-joint or tendon surgery, post-joint lavage, and to support the healing of joint fractures. Target species: sport horses not intended for human consumption Dosage, dose, and route of administration: Adult horse: 2 ml intra-articularly in small or medium joints (interphalangeal, fetlock, carpal, tarsometatarsal) . 4 ml intra-articularly in large joints (tibioastragalic, femorotibial-patellar ) . Administer intra-articularly under strict aseptic and antiseptic conditions. May be administered in combination with ARTIDEXA or TRIAMCINOLONE CHINFIELD. If repeat administration is necessary, allow 7 days to elapse between applications to the same joint. It is recommended not to exceed a total of three (3) applications for the same joint. Possible side effects: Local: joint inflammation that subsides within 24–48 hours; General: none described in the literature .
