Furofield; Diuretic-Anti-inflammatory; Benefits: Furosemide inhibits sodium reabsorption in the proximal convoluted tubules and in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle. By blocking the crucial sodium transport mechanism in this portion of the nephron, it inhibits the reabsorption of approximately 25% of the sodium filtered in the glomerulus. The segments located beyond this point in the loop are unable to reabsorb the resulting sodium ion overload, which leads to potent natriuresis and consequent diuresis. It promotes the excretion of chloride and potassium. Its diuretic effect is independent of the patient’s acid-base balance. Dexamethasone has anti-inflammatory and anti-stress properties. Clinical experience shows that edema is significantly reduced by this drug. The combination of the diuretic furosemide with the anti-inflammatory action of the corticosteroid is effective in reducing physiological edema of the mammary gland during childbirth and in reducing edematous conditions, whether or not accompanied by inflammation; Indications: This product is intended for the general treatment of edema: pulmonary congestion and edema, cerebral edema, renal edema, gestational edema, pericardial edema, prepuce edema, anasarca, ascites, hydrothorax, and pre- and postpartum udder edema; Target species: sport and working horses not intended for human consumption; Dosage, dose, and route of administration: Horses: 10 to 25 cc, with a 12- or 24-hour interval between doses, or as determined by the condition being treated and the treating veterinarian’s judgment.
