EQUI PIN PLUS DESCRIPTION : Injectable neurolytic agent. COMPOSITION Ammonium chloride: 2 g. Benzyl alcohol: 1 ml. Distilled water q.s.: 100 ml. ACTION Neurolytic. It blocks pain transmission in the nerve fibers to which it is applied. Its effect lasts approximately three weeks and becomes noticeable within a few hours of injection. INDICATIONS Reversible nerve fiber block. Myositis. Muscle spasms. Degenerative joint disease. Bursitis. Synovitis. Periostitis. In the practice of equine sports medicine, chronic painful injuries that interfere with training are very common; Blocking these nerves—without aggravating the original injury—allows for the continuation of athletic activities while the condition is monitored or specific treatment is applied to the primary injury. CONTRAINDICATIONS AND WARNINGS There are no known incompatibilities with concurrent treatments. It must not be mixed in the same syringe with narcotic analgesics or other drugs that cause the active ingredient to precipitate. Its use is contraindicated when the injury to be treated may be aggravated by the treatment (acute myositis, hairline fractures, fractures, etc.), or when the nerve block poses a risk to the animal or the rider. It is incompatible with alkalis, carbonates, and silver and lead salts. SIDE EFFECTS: If used undiluted—and in some cases, even when diluted—stinging, sweating, or signs of restlessness may occur, which subside within 5 to 10 minutes.
