DEXA 40; DESCRIPTION; : Injectable corticosteroid formulation based on dexamethasone 21-phosphate; COMPOSITION; Dexamethasone 21-phosphate: 40 mg; Excipients q.s.: 10 ml; ACTION; Anti-inflammatory. Corticosteroid; INDICATIONS; Acute and chronic inflammatory conditions of the musculoskeletal system (myositis, tendinitis, synovitis, osteitis, osteoarthritis). Shock. Allergies. Inflammatory or edematous conditions of the airways; Hemoglobinuria. Photosensitivity. Neonatal maladjustment syndrome; CONTRAINDICATIONS AND WARNINGS; Do not use if gastrointestinal ulcers are suspected or in the presence of systemic fungal infections; Do not use for pulmonary infections or for intralesional administration in localized infections if appropriate antibiotic coverage is lacking; Do not administer concurrently with any vaccine, nor in the presence of osteoporosis; Do not use in pregnant females during the last trimester of gestation; Since this is a fast-acting medication, its use should not exceed 7 days; Because the product will be used in circumstances beyond the manufacturer’s control, the manufacturer assumes no liability for consequences arising from its improper use; SIDE; EFFECTS When administered in excess over long periods, corticosteroids can cause sodium and fluid retention, potassium loss, muscle weakness, osteoporosis, and delayed wound healing; DOSAGE; It may be administered intramuscularly, intravenously, or intra-articularly; Adult horses: 10 to 40 mg per day; PRESENTATION; 50-ml ampoule vial; RESTRICTIONS ON USE; Do not use in horses intended for human consumption; ADMINISTRATION; Injectable
