Bolicol; Intestinal Antidiarrheal Disinfectant; Benefits: The pathological processes of the intestine that occur most frequently in horses—but also occur in other species—are usually due to an alteration in the bacterial content of the enteric tract, resulting in a disruption of the normal balance between the normal fermentative and putrefactive flora. Added to this cause are contamination—usually from feed—as well as nervous agitation or the ingestion of plant toxins. Treatment of this condition must address multiple aspects, given the difficulties in identifying the etiology of the process: restoration of normal bacterial balance, elimination of pathogenic flora, adsorption of gases and toxins, and definitive normalization of intestinal transit.
